Your bookshelf stays on your device.
Effective and last updated: July 18, 2026.
Plain-language summary
ShelfSweep does not require an account and does not collect your bookshelf, search terms, photos, recognized text, ISBNs, notes, loan records, exports, identifiers, diagnostics, or usage activity. The developer does not operate a ShelfSweep backend.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, contacts, photos, camera data, book records, borrower labels, notification schedules, payment-card data, advertising identifiers, analytics, crash reports, or tracking data.
Local library and on-device processing
Book titles, authors, ISBNs, shelves, categories, notes, loan details, and preferences are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. Text and barcode recognition use Apple frameworks on the device. Selected shelf images are used for the scan you request and are not uploaded to us or retained as part of your ShelfSweep library.
Permissions
Camera access is requested only when you choose to scan book spines or an ISBN barcode. Photos access is limited to images you select with Apple’s system picker. Notifications are optional and used only for local loan reminders. ShelfSweep does not request Contacts, Location, Microphone, Health, Bluetooth, Local Network, or App Tracking Transparency permission.
Spotlight and system services
If ShelfSweep makes a saved book searchable through Apple Spotlight, that index remains under the device’s system controls. Apple’s StoreKit handles purchase availability, transactions, and restoration. Public product, support, privacy, and EULA links open only when you choose them.
Purchases and payment
ShelfSweep Pro Lifetime is a non-consumable in-app purchase. Apple processes payment information and purchase history and returns entitlement status to the app. ShelfSweep does not receive or store your full payment-card details. There is no subscription or external payment flow.
Exports and third parties
ShelfSweep contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, social, cloud-storage, or third-party AI SDK. JSON, CSV, PDF, and ZIP files are generated locally. An exported file leaves ShelfSweep only when you choose a destination in Apple’s share sheet; that destination handles the file under its own terms.
Retention and deletion
Local library data remains until you delete records, use the app’s local data controls, or remove ShelfSweep. Exported files remain at destinations you chose. Apple retains purchase history according to Apple’s policies.
Children, transfers, and policy changes
ShelfSweep is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. Because ShelfSweep does not send library content to the developer, we do not transfer that content internationally. We may update this policy when app behavior changes; the date above identifies the current version.
