Help with restart maps and archive packages.

Find accurate steps for folder access, review, export, optional Apple Intelligence, local history, and source-folder safety.

Support topics

Getting started

Open ReopenKit AI, complete the local-processing introduction, choose Start New Archive, then select one folder in the system Files picker. You can also use the clearly labeled Example Project to learn the workflow.

Files access

Access starts only after your selection. If a provider or folder becomes unavailable, return to the Files picker and select it again. ReopenKit AI does not scan the whole device.

Roles and Restart Map

Open any suggestion to see its evidence. Change the role, include or exclude it from the new package, and edit every Restart Map field before export.

Package and ZIP

Choose a destination with enough free space. ReopenKit AI writes a new package, ZIP, PDF, CSV, JSON, and checksums, then validates the results without modifying the source.

Apple Intelligence

On-device suggestions appear only when the device, language, system settings, and model availability support them. The deterministic Restart Map is the complete fallback.

Source-folder safety

Symbolic links are not followed and imported scripts, binaries, macros, and project code are never executed. Unreadable or uncertain items stay visible for review.

Frequently asked questions

Why did a file receive the Review role?

Review means the deterministic evidence was not strong enough for another role, or the item was unreadable, unusual, or conflicted with another signal. Open the item to inspect the evidence and decide.

Why is Apple Intelligence unavailable?

Availability depends on compatible hardware, the installed iOS or iPadOS version, Apple Intelligence settings, language support, and model readiness. Continue with the deterministic workflow; no feature needed to export is blocked.

What happens if I cancel the Files picker?

Nothing is scanned or changed. You return to the start screen and can choose a folder later.

Can I delete local history and learned preferences?

Yes. Settings provides controls to clear saved package history, folder bookmarks, and Archive Memory. Previously exported files remain at the destinations you selected.

Why did package validation fail?

A source file may have become unavailable, free space may be insufficient, or a written file may not match its manifest. Keep the source unchanged, choose a writable destination with more space, and create the package again.

Troubleshooting

  1. Folder unavailable: confirm the file provider is online if it is managed by another app, then select the folder again in Files. ReopenKit AI itself has no cloud service.
  2. Scan cannot read an item: review the visible error, confirm the file is a regular readable file, and leave uncertain items in Review. Symbolic links are intentionally skipped.
  3. Export fails: verify free device space, choose another writable destination, and retry. Do not remove the source until the new package and its checksums have been independently verified.
  4. AI suggestion does not appear: check Apple Intelligence availability in Settings, or continue with the deterministic template. The export workflow does not require AI.
