Privacy Policy

Your family archive stays on your device.

Effective and last updated: July 20, 2026.

No developer collection · No tracking · No cloud sync

Plain-language summary

No developer data collection

LineageProof is a local-first iOS app. It does not require a developer account and does not send family records, relationships, evidence files, photos, recognized text, facts, notes, conflicts, exports, identifiers, diagnostics, or usage activity to the developer. The developer operates no LineageProof backend.

Information

Data the app stores locally

People, relationships, archive titles, facts, notes, settings, and evidence you choose are stored in the app's local container to provide the features you request. The app does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, Contacts, advertising identifiers, analytics, crash reports, or tracking data for the developer.

Permissions

User-initiated access only

Camera access is requested only after you choose to scan a document. Apple's PhotosPicker shares only the image you select and does not give LineageProof full photo-library access. Apple's Files picker shares only the file you select. Optional archive lock requests system device authentication after you enable it. LineageProof does not request Contacts, Location, Microphone, Health, Bluetooth, Local Network, or App Tracking Transparency permission.

Processing

On-device OCR

Apple Vision performs text recognition on the device. Recognized text and suggested facts stay in the local archive and remain editable candidates until you verify or reject them. There is no cloud AI, cloud sync, developer database, or remote account.

Purchases

Paid App Store download

LineageProof is a paid download with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. Apple's App Store processes payment information, purchase history, and storefront pricing. LineageProof does not receive or store full payment-card details.

Sharing

Exports happen only when you choose

GEDCOM, PDF, CSV, and ZIP files are generated locally. A file leaves the app only when you choose a destination in Apple's share sheet. Apple services and the chosen destination then handle that file under their own terms. LineageProof contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, social, cloud-storage, third-party AI, or crash-reporting SDK.

Retention and deletion

You control local retention

Archive data remains on the device until you remove records in the app where that action is available or delete LineageProof. Removing the app removes its local container. Exported files remain wherever you saved them, so delete those separately when needed.

Imported materials

Your responsibility

You choose which documents, images, text, and GEDCOM files to import. You are responsible for having the rights to use and share that material, and for deciding whether information about living people should be included in an export.

Children's privacy

General-purpose utility

LineageProof is not directed to children under 13. Because the developer receives no app data, the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other user.

International transfers

No archive transfer to the developer

Family records and evidence are not transferred to the developer or a developer server. Apple services and any export destination you choose may process information under their own regional and privacy terms.

Policy changes

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if LineageProof's behavior changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material app-data changes will also be reflected in the App Store privacy disclosure.
